H nce a long time ago a very distant region called beautiful name Lydia, was located west of the Anatolian peninsula. Was kingdom since the fall of the Hittite Empire until 546 BC C. when it was conquered by the Persians. Their lands extended by the current Turkish provinces of Izmir and Manisa.
P or its privileged position served bridge between East and West, especially for its good ability in the arts and commerce and for its famous and richest gold mines , as reported by the Greek historian Herodotus V century a. C.

"As wonders worthy of being remembered, compared with other countries, Lydia does not have many, except the gold nuggets from the Tmolus , chain of mountains of Anatolia" (Herodotus, History, 1.93).
